Unlocking Each Child’s Full Potential
Set within one hundred acres, in the idyll of the New Forest, Walhampton is a day and boarding prep school that provides a striking balance of academic rigour alongside sport, drama, art, music and over 60 on-site extra curricular activities. Built on a 65 year history, Walhampton is openly committed to an educational journey that offers each child true breadth and variety. Very few independent prep schools in the UK can offer such a significant range of academic and extra curricular opportunities, from debating, journalism and general knowledge to sailing on the school’s own lakes and riding in a professionally qualified equestrian centre.
From the age of 2 up to 13 years of age, Walhampton boys and girls have the opportunity to be the best that they can be. Our parents are reassured by the School’s commitment to academic excellence and strong nurturing ethos that allows children to stay younger for longer.
Our school is dedicated to unlocking each child’s full potential within the classroom, while also finding their passion whether it be on the sports field, stage, in the music rooms or even at our bee-keeping club.
Walhampton pupils cannot fail to be inspired by the natural surroundings of the school. Over looking the magnificent view of the Isle of Wight, the Solent and New Forest, the school takes every opportunity to embrace outdoor education into the academic curriculum. The unique location of the school provides an engaging and beautiful environment in which children build their educational foundation. Setting high standards of academic, pastoral and personal achievement, the school nurtures each pupil to have the confidence to create, think and develop a life long passion for learning.
Walhampton believes in the importance of academic achievement. As children move through their prep years, Headmaster Titus Mills and his highly experienced teaching staff, work with both child and parents to find the right senior school. It is with great pride, that Walhampton enables many of its children to achieve scholarships to their senior schools in a variety of disciplines including Academic, Sports, CDT, Drama, Art, Music, as well as all rounder and even Equestrian scholarships.
Our day children are completely integrated with our full, weekly and flexi-boarders, all of who thrive within our ‘home from home’ school. House parents Richard and Kate Cullum ensure boarding at Walhampton is flourishing, caring and fun. They welcome over 42 children to board during the week, all of who have with option to stay for Saturday morning activities and exciting trips on Sundays.
If you are thinking about Walhampton for your child, we warmly welcome you to come and see this remarkable school for yourself.
Our popular Open Mornings take place every term and are an excellent way to visit the school, meet our staff and children and to explore our facilities and extensive grounds.
Tours are conducted by our senior children, who delight in taking new parents around and answering your questions. Our pupils are very proud of their school and love to show it off to visitors. You can "access all areas" including a look at our Boarding facilities – described by Ofsted as "outstanding" – and ask the Headmaster any questions.
Private visits and individual tours can also be arranged on most weekdays and Saturdays during term time, at a time and date convenient for you. You are welcome to visit with or without your children. You can meet the Registrar and have coffee with the Headmaster. You can also meet our Houseparents if you are interested in boarding. These private visits normally last 1-2 hours.
For an invitation to an Open Morning or to arrange a visit, please call our Registrar, Mrs Suzanne Wright on 01590 613303 or email firstname.lastname@example.org
